Sara Emerick is a retired pediatrician. Mother of four grown children and grandmother to 11 amazing grandchildren. She retired with her husband of 47 years to Prineville in 2020. Raised in Southeast Portland, she went to medical school at OHSU. School, career and family resulted in living for a time in Texas, Wisconsin and Arizona. She loves being back in her home state. She enjoys her chickens, baking and not using an alarm clock anymore.

Attending church at Prineville Nazarene, she heard about the women’s shelter and began volunteering once a week. She discovered women not so different from herself, except for so many difficult experiences that derailed their life. She was amazed at the success rate the shelter had with the women who moved out and on into a healthy life. What an amazing organization to be a part of! She was approached to join the board and, as they say, the rest is history.
